2013 SAS Individual Athlete Support Program

Sunraysia Academy of Sport 2013 Individual Athlete Support Program will begin in April.

Sunraysia Academy of Sport are once again in the position to offer an Individual Athlete Support Program for talented athletes in the region in 2013. The success  of the program in 2012 was beyond all expectations with athletes coming from a diverse range of sports including tabletennis, athletics, triathlon and cricket and achieving some amazing results.

Ellen Fraser represented Australia at the ITU World Triathlon Championships which were held in New Zealand last October. Makinley Blows and Rhiann O’Donnell competed at the U15 National girls cricket championship held in Sydney last December.  Makinley Blows  performed exceptionally well being named in the Australian team at the end of the carnival. Sarah and Robert Broadhead are competing at the State level, representing South Australia at the All Schools National Championships last year and also the Junior National Championships to be held in Perth mid March. Dillon Chambers was selected in the Victorian U15 table tennis tennis team and competed at the National Championships in July.

The number of athletes who will be offered positions will be doubled to 12 with the generous support of Club Aquarius.

The objectives of the program are to focus on a holistic approach to an athlete’s development. Sunraysia Academy of Sport will provide a program that integrates both physical and mental aspects of the sport. An athlete centred approach will focus on the processes needed to achieve both short and long term goals. In doing this, the Sunraysia Academy of Sport will provide off-field programs and sessions to complement the on-field training already being undertaken by the athlete with a coach.

The selection criteria is as follows:
