2014 Athletics SA VIV Sports All School’s Championships

Sunraysia Academy of Sport athletes excel at Athletics SA VIV Sports All School Championships.

A contingent of athletes from Mildura travelled to Adelaide to compete at the 2014 Athletics SA VIV Sports All Schools Championships, which were held on the 25th-26th October.

The results were as follows:

Madeleine Williams – U14 Girls Bronze HJ, 6th TJ, 7th LJ, 10th 80m Hurdles

Jordan Stainer – U14 Boys 11th 800m, 11th 1500m

Mebal Kadian  – U16 Girls Silver Discus, Bronze Hammer, Bronze Shot Put, 4th Javelin

Rinaldo Pender – U16 Boys Silver 800m, 4th 1500m, 6th 400m

Jayden Curtis – U16 Boys 5th 800m, 6th 1500m

Asare Amoafo – U18 Boys Silver 400m, Bronze 100m, 5th 200m

Brodie Jackson – U18 Boys 5th 100m, 6th 200m, 8th LJ

Taylor Hand – U18 Girls Silver 400m Hurdles, 4th 100m, 5th Discus

The championships doubled up as selection for the National All Schools Championships. Any athlete who achieved a gold or silver medal in their event has automatically qualified for the National All Schools Championships to be held in Adelaide from 5-7th December.

Four athletes from the Sunraysia Academy of Sport  have received an invitation to the Nationals including; Mebal Kadian U16 Girls Discus, Rinaldo Pender U16 Boys 800m, Asare Amoafo U18 Boys 400m and possibly the 4 x 100m Relay and Taylor Hand U18 Girls 400m Hurdles and possibly the 4 x 100m Relay. All these athletes are in the Sunraysia Academy of Sport Athletics Program or Individual Athlete Support Program. Testament to the great work coaches Chris Can Dijk and Jag Singh are putting into the Athletics Program. The program is also receiving great support from coaches at Salisbury Athletics Club, in particular Simon Moran.

Former SAS Athletes; Breanna Doorne (U18 800m) and Montana Macfarlane (U18 girls 2000m steeplechase) have also been selected in the SA All School State Team.


The Academy congratulates all athletes who competed at Athletics SA VIV Sports All School Championships and wishes all selected athletes well in their preparation for the National All Schools.
