Sunraysia Academy of Sport athlete, Indianna Robertson, named in U15 Girls Victorian State Hockey Team.
After a number of selection trials in Melbourne, the U15 Girls Victorian State Hockey team has been announced. In line with Hockey Australia’s development policy, Victoria will once again send two teams to compete at the National Championships to be held at Southport on the Gold Coast from the 11th to the 19th April.
Sunraysia Academy of Sport Hockey Program athlete, Indianna Robertson, has been selected in the U15 Girls Victorian number one team as a goalkeeper.
Sunraysia is proving to be a great breeding ground for hockey goalkeepers, as Indianna follows in the footsteps of Alec Carrigan who represented Victoria in the U15 Boys Victorian State Hockey team last year.
The Academy would like to acknowledge coaches Jamie Pain and Dafydd Scholes who have been the coaches for the inaugural Sunraysia Academy of Sport Hockey Program. The weekly sessions on the field as well as the weekly sessions in the gym at Chaffey Secondary College with strength and conditioning coach, Jane Watts, is paying dividends for athletes in the program.
The program was fortunate to have a training session recently with Josh Simmonds, who has just been named in the Australian Junior Hockey Squad. He is currently on scholarship with the Victorian Institute of Sport. To have high calibre players visit Mildura and pass on some of their knowledge should serve as inspiration for our young players who are inspiring to play hockey at the highest level.
The Academy would like to congratulate Indianna on her selection and wish her all the best in the upcoming Nationals.
