Alec Carrigan has been selected to represent Victoria at the Under 15 National Hockey Championships in Rockingham, Western Australia this month.
Alec is a relative newcomer to the sport of hockey after completing his first full season of hockey in 2013. Coming from a soccer background, he was put into the position of goal keeper at club level and showed great potential from the start. Twin brother, Brodie, a goal keeper himself, has been coaching Alec and providing him with tips along the way. He has also been coached by local and representative coaches along the way.
Following impressive performances for North West Lightening at the Zone Challenge over the summer, Alec travelled regularly to Melbourne for additional training sessions and selection trials.
His selection in Victoria’s Division two team has been reward for his hard work, determination and persistance.
Alec has recently been selected in the Sunraysia Academy of Sport Individual Athlete Support Program. The Academy would like to congratulate Alec on his achievement and wish him well in the U15 National Hockey Championships.
