SAS looks for New Board Members

Sunraysia Academy of Sport  (SAS) is looking for new people willing to give up some of their time to help the junior athletes of Sunraysia to reach their potential.

SAS is an autonomous not for profit organisation that is governed by a Board of Management. The board plays an important role in an organisations’ success. We are looking for board members who possess skills in the areas of accounting/finances, governance etc as the aim is to have a board which has a wide range of knowledge and skills to tackle all of a board’s responsibility effectively.

Key qualities of a good SAS  board member could be summarized as:

  • Passion and deep interest in the mission ‚ÄúTo maintain a Regional Academy of Sport that supports the pursuit of athletic potential by talented young sportspeople
  • The ability to see the big picture and the courage to set direction to achieve the SAS mission
  • The integrity to serve the interests and pursue the goals of SAS, as well as the interests of the SAS athletes and the¬†public
  • Knowledge of the SAS constituents, operations and organizational and managerial acumen
  • Dedication and commitment to fulfilling the SAS goals
  • Possess a sincere and respectful attitude toward colleagues and their views
  • The ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality of board discussions and speak with one voice when representing SAS to the community

Congratulations Nathan

SAS would like to congratulate 2017 Clay Target Shooting program athlete Nathan Argiro for his great performance, in July to claim an individual junior world title and finish third in the Open section at the Universal Trench World Cup held in Sarlospuszta, Hungary. Nathan will now switch his training to get ready for an Olympic Trap event at the ISSF World Championships in Changwon South Korea, next month. Zoe Smith, Dylan Lucchesi, Kade Zrna, Baden Kalms and Jasper Lord have been selected to Represent Victoria at the Australian Junior Volleyball Championships in September 2017. Well done allCoaching clinic 2017

A Way to Our Heart

Archer Georgina Graham won a Gold medal and set a national Archery record at the International Field Archery Association (IFAA) National Championships. Georgina broke a previous 20 year old Australian record of 514 when she scored 521.IMG_1151

Ned Leads The Way

Ned Faulkhead is spinning wheels after coming runners up in the U16 100-150cc two-stroke class and third in the 100cc to 150 two stroke and 250cc Four-stroke and 5th place in the 200cc to 250cc four stroke 13 to U 16 at the Australia Junior Track Championships 15-16 July 2017 week-end
