Cricketers Gain All Australian selection

Three Academy athletes; Annabel Martin, Makinley Blows and Rhiann O’Donnell recently competed in the under 15 National Cricket Championships held in Sydney. The Victorian team performed extremely well throughout the tournament coming 2nd, beaten by New South Wales in the final.

Rhiann played all 7 matches in the tournament and took 7 wickets, with best bowling figures of 4/7.

Makinley, the Victorian vice-captain, lead by example and was a prolific run scorer throughout the championships scoring  240 runs over the seven matches played. Her batting statistics include; highest score 96 not out, 3 not outs at an average of 60. Makinley also took 2 catches.

Annabel, played an integral part in the teams success as wicketkeeper, taking 6 catches as wicketkeeper, 5 stumpings and assisted in 2 runouts.

All 3 girls played extremely well throughout the tournament with Makinley and Annabel being rewarded for their great individual efforts with selection in the All-Australian team.
