Throughout the year a number of government grants become available. The grants currently open are:

Athlete Pathway Travel Grants Program.

GRANT-Changes: Applicants can now apply from day after closing date e.g 29 August 2017 before it was predict events in 2018 you may require assistance whereas now you may know for the end of 2017 what you have to travel to.

What types of activities might be funded?
Category 1: Travel and accommodation costs associated with competing at a national championship or an event or series of events constituting national selection trials. Applications may be submitted for an individual athlete or team/squad.
Category 2: Travel and accommodation costs over a 12 month period for athletes, coaches, officials or teams that are required to travel to train or compete. For example an athlete that is regularly required to travel to train with a state squad, or a regional club that is required to travel to a number of other towns in order to compete in their local competition.
Applications should reflect support of gender equity across teams and individuals.
Applications will be considered in two assessment rounds each year as detailed below

Access to Drinking Water in Community Sport Grants:

VicHealth is excited to make it easier for spectators, participants and volunteers to access free drinking water in community sport clubs and facilities. The purpose of this grant is to enable groups to purchase and install a water refill station with a drinking fountain at their facility.

Funding of up to $5,000 is available to assist with the purchase and installation of a water refill station.

Strengthening Communities Volunteer Grant Program

Eligible not-for-profit community organisations can apply for grants between $1,000 and $5,000 to:

  • purchase portable, tangible, small equipment items to help their volunteers, e.g. IT equipment and software, AV equipment, public address system, first aid and safety items, air conditioners, indoor furniture and appliances, mowers, beach wheelchair, office equipment, outdoor furniture, trailers (up to 2.5 x 1.6m), etc.
  • contribute to the reimbursement of fuel costs for their volunteers who use their own car to transport others to activities, to deliver food, assist with medical appointments or help people in need
  • contribute to the reimbursement of transport costs incurred by volunteers with a disability, who are unable to drive
  • contribute to the costs of training courses and/or undertake background screening checks for their volunteers

 

Please refer to¬† Attachment A ‚Äď Item Categories included with this Memo for a comprehensive list of eligible items; this can be used as a guide when deciding what your Club would like to apply for.

 

The following are examples of some of the commonly requested items that are not eligible:

·         advertising, logos, banners, display boards, uniforms, badging, or other things that advertise your organisation/community group;

·         administration costs such as leasing, rental, hiring, labour, utilities, insurance and travel;

·         fees, charges, and subscriptions;

·         service charges, extended warranties and other labour costs;

·         conferences and functions;

·         vehicles and powered boats;

·         buildings, renovations and permanent fixtures Рplumbing, kitchens, hot water systems, fencing, etc.;

·         window coverings (such as curtains and awnings) and floor coverings;

¬∑¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† consumable supplies ‚Äď food, books, stationary (such as paper and folders), cleaning products, ink, toners, soil, sunscreen, maps, refilling of gas bottles, etc.;

·         gym equipment, heart rate monitors;

·         items that benefit the organisation/community group, its members, clients, participants or players, but not the volunteer;

·         items already purchased, funded from another source.

 

Only one application from each organisation is accepted.

 

 

Applications will be assessed on how strongly they meet one or more of the following priorities:

·         Organisations that work with disadvantaged communities (according to the Social Economic Indexes for Areas [SEIFA])

·         Organisations that support individuals and communities experiencing disadvantage, including applicants:

o    located in areas affected by recent major natural disasters (based on the Disaster Assist website listings from 10 Dec 2015 to 13 Dec 2016) and

o    which engage volunteers from disadvantaged backgrounds (organisations which help more than one disadvantaged group will be assessed more highly)

·         Organisations that have more volunteers than paid staff

·         A higher number of volunteers who will directly use the items being bought

·         Organisations with high numbers of volunteers

·         Organisations with smaller operating budgets

·         A lower total cost for the requested items

How long until I know if my application has been successful?

Grant applications are assessed 3 times each year.  It may therefore take five-six months before you are notified of the outcome of your application.

Purpose: Young people find it difficult to meet the ongoing and significant costs associated with participation at sporting competitions, particularly those from regional areas.

Elite Athlete Travel Grants 

The Elite Athlete Travel Grant Program provides grants to assist elite Victorian athletes to travel to
compete at national championships or international events.

Provider: Sport and Recreation Victoria 

Eligibility
Applications can be submitted by individual athletes who are:
‚ÄĘ an elite athlete as defined in the guidelines
‚ÄĘ a resident of Victoria
‚ÄĘ a member of a State Sporting Association recognised by Sport and Recreation Victoria or a
National Sporting Association recognised by the Australian Sports Commission
‚ÄĘ travelling to compete at a national championship or international event.

Elite Indigenous Travel and Accommodation Assistance Program (EITAAP)

Funding: Up to $1,500 for National Championships and up to $4,000 for International Competitions

Purpose: For Indigenous sportspeople who have been selected for a state team to compete at national championships or an Australian team to compete at an international event. The program assists with travel and accommodation expenses only.
