Sunraysia Academy of Sport athlete, Thomas Golsworthy, selected in the Australian Development Team for slalom and jump events in water skiing.
Over the school holidays Thomas travelled to Darwin to compete at the National slalom and jump events in water skiing. Unfortunately during familiarisations Thomas injured his knee and was unable to compete.
He obviously showed enough potential in training and previous events to be selected in the Australian Development Team, a program for the best junior skiers in the country. The program involves an invitation for skiers to compete in the Junior Masters in Port Macquarie later in the year. The week prior to the Junior Masters, skiers in the Development Squad attend intensive training at the Australian Junior Ski School, with some of the best coaches in Australia attending.
Selection in the Australian Development squad is a pathway for selection into Australian teams to compete in events such as the Junior Worlds and Australia v New Zealand competitions.
Thomas, has recently been selected to be a member of the Sunraysia Academy of Sport Individual Athlete Program. The Academy will support Thomas to overcome his knee injury with the support of the Academy medical service providers. This allows athletes to access the best medical service providers in the region at a reduced rate. We also encourage Thomas to attend Club Aquarius to continue his strength and conditioning program.
