The Victorian Junior Table Tennis state teams have been announced with local player and former Sunraysia Academy of Sport athlete Dillon Chambers being selected.
Mildura’s brightest young talent in table tennis has shone with selection in the Under 15 boys Victorian ‘A’ table tennis team. He was one of four boys selected in the team to compete at the 2012 Australian Junior Table Tennis Championships to be held at Kingsway Indoor Stadium, Perth, Western Australia.
In July, Dillon and his family made the decision for Dillon to relocate to Melbourne to pursue his table tennis dreams. His hard work and dedication has paid off. Selection into the state team was based on state team points. Points were earned by competing on a regular basis in Open Singles Events in Victoria as well as in National Tournaments. Points were awarded for participation as well as additional points for every match won.
At the end of the qualifying period, end of July, Dillon was ranked 8th in Victoria overall and 2nd in the Under 15 age group, earning him state selection.
The squad have been training together on a regular basis over the last few months in preparation for the Championships. We wish Dillon and his team all the best when they represent Victoria from Saturday 29th September to Saturday 6th October at the Australian Junior Table Tennis Championships.
