Overview

The Sunraysia Academy of Sport 2026 Tennis program, proudly supported by Tennis Victoria, will provide a training environment designed to complement athlete’s weekly training environment with their local private coach – through the provision of both on and off court activities.

Our 2026 Tennis Program provides athletes with a comprehensive high-performance development experience. Led by Head Coach Cameron Phillips, athletes will benefit from weekly on-court coaching, tailored strength and conditioning sessions, a specialist clinic with a Tennis Australia High Performance Coach, athlete education, nutrition support, Mildura Waves membership, and opportunities to attend both the Tennis Victoria High Performance Day and the Victorian Regional Academies of Sport Inter-Academy Challenge. Designed to develop well-rounded athletes, this program supports performance both on and off the court.

Targeted Squad

Boys and Girls born between birth years 2008 and 2015 inclusive. Athletes born outside of this bracket are still welcome to apply for the program.

Timeline

The Sunraysia Academy of Sport 2026 Tennis Program will begin the 26th of April 2026 and will run until October 5th, 2026.

SAS Tennis Academy Program Inclusions:

  • Induction Day: Program introduction featuring a guest speaker– 26th April 2026.
  • Tailored weekly strength and conditioning sessions.
  • 6 Tennis training sessions with coach Cameron Phillips (Sundays) – Sacred Heart and St Andrews Tennis Club
  • 1 specialized clinic with Matt Gregory Tennis Australia High Performance Certified Coach -Global Professional Tennis Certified Coach-ATP Level A – United States Professional Tennis Association – Elite Professional Coach.

Assisted by Cameron Phillips – Date TBC – Sacred Heart and St Andrews Tennis Club

  • 16 Strength and Conditioning sessions with Cameron Phillips (Thursdays)
  • Athlete Education around topics such as Mental Skills, Nutrition, Injury Prevention, Rehab and more
  • Nutritional meal plans – Tennis athlete focused
  • SAS Athlete Membership to Mildura Waves, courtesy of Aligned Leisure during the period the program runs (age restrictions apply)
    • 13 and Under: Aquatic membership only (access to pool, no gym)
    • 14 and Over: Gym & Aquatic membership (access to pool and gym)
  • Invitation to attend Tennis Victoria High Performance Day – June/July 2026.
  • Invitation to attend Victorian Regional Academies of Sport Inter-Academy Challenge – October 2026.
  • Discounted Membership – Sportsmind Jr – Sportsmind Junior offers programs to develop mental toughness and emotional resilience in youth athletes. As part of the partnership, SAS athletes can get a 20% discount ($50 off RRP) on Silver Programs and 20% discount ($60 off RRP) on Gold Programs.

Exclusions:

  • Travel and accommodation to High Performance and Inter-Academy days
  • SAS uniform and merchandise

Sunraysia Academy of Sport: Tennis Program Selection Criteria

Athletes selected in the Tennis Program must satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Be an existing member of a Tennis Victoria affiliated Club in the Mallee Region
  2. Be a member of Tennis Victoria directly.
  3. Have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
  4. Have reached a satisfactory standard of play based on current player rankings and/or performance at local tournaments and regional events.

General Adherence Criteria

In order for athletes to maintain their position within the Sunraysia Academy of Sport: Tennis Program they will be required to meet certain standards relating to:

  • Wear SAS uniform to all SAS events and trainings.
  • Behaviour and attitude reflecting a commitment to high performance.
  • Commit to training on and off the court.

Selection Process

Athletes are required to complete the online Athlete Application Form by Tuesday 14th April, 2026.

Following applications closing, a trial day may be added to assist with selection.

Cost of Program

*The athlete Levy for the 2026 Tennis Program will be finalized after applications have closed.

Payment plans are available.


*Price will be modified for athletes not in the Sunraysia area that are only able to attend Tennis Sessions

The athlete levy does not include SAS uniform.

Payment plans are available.

Once accepted into the program, SAS bank details will be sent through for transfer. Cash or cheque are also available for payment. SAS does not have credit card facilities.

SAS Uniform

The uniform cost is not included in the athlete levy, however upon acceptance into the program, a uniform list will be sent through with details of compulsory and optional items to be ordered.

Athletes will be required to order online with Apelle Apparel.

It is an expectation that athletes wear their uniforms for media shoots/interviews,
 training sessions and competitions where appropriate.
