Sunraysia Academy of Sport 2025 Awards Night. Held on Wednesday 26th November at the Coomealla Memorial Sporting Club. The night covered programs and athlete achievements from October 2024 – October 2025.

2024/2025 Individual Athlete Support Program
Outstanding Athlete Award – Oscar Bitmead (Athletics Athlete) – highlighted by representing SA and competing at the Australian Little Athletics Championships (National competition) where he finished 5th in the 200m and was part of the 4x100m relay team that finished in second.
Coaches Award – Nicholas Stewart (Soccer Athlete)

2024/2025 Swimming Program
Outstanding Athlete Award, Sponsored by Aligned Leisure – Joaquin Leal-Kaiser – highlighted by qualifying and competing in 5 events at the Australian Age Championships.
Coaches Award – Niamh McClaer

2024/2025 Athletics Program
Outstanding Athlete Award – Isabell Alchin – highlighted by a 5^th placing at the Australian All Schools Athletics Championships. Along with 5 podium finishes at the SA State Individual Championships.
Coaches Award – Charli Hopkins

2025 Tennis Program
Clinton Snell Outstanding Athlete Award – Aydin Yazici – highlighted by winning the A Grade singles championship at the Sunraysia District Tennis Association Junior Singles Championship.
Coaches Award – Diana Tran

2025 Soccer Program 
Outstanding Athlete Award – Riley Eichler – highlighted by winning the Under 14 League Best & Fairest and being named best on ground in the Under 14 Grand Final.
Coaches Award – Xavier Dodds

2025 Volleyball Program 

Outstanding Athlete Award – Brock Nokes – highlighted by making the Under 18 State team and represented Victoria at the Mahindra Australian Youth Championships. Brock was absent from the Awards Night due to a Volleyball training opportunity in Malaysia, getting to train with their national side.

Coaches Award – Paige Fitzsimmons

2024/2025 Allan Hassell contribution Award – Garth Doherty – highlighted by his instrumental work in the SAS golf program, with promotion, organization and coaching this year.

2025 Golf Program
Greg Rhodes Outstanding Athlete Award – James Clay and Joel Doherty. James was highlighted by winning the Riverside Golf Club Championships junior title as well as the A Grade men’s title. Joel was highlighted by Claiming the Junior Scratch title at the Murray Darling Golf Association District Championships. Joel also won the A Grade riverside Junior Open.

2025 Mildura Senior College Program

Elite Athlete of the Year, sponsored by Mildura Senior College – Brooklyn Hudak – highlighted by his excellent dedication to the program, Brooklyn also finished 4^th in long jump at the State Athletics Championships.

2025 Individual Athlete Support Program
Outstanding Athlete Award – Ruby Nemtsas (BMX Racing Athlete) – highlighted by finishing 1st in the 15 girls BMX Racing State Series.

2024/2025 Damien Gibson Strength & Conditioning Award
Sponsored by Mildura Strength and Performance Centre 
Winner – Ryder Hall (Swimming Athlete)- chosen for his outstanding commitment and dedication to his gym sessions. 

2024/2025 New Athlete of the Year

Winner – Max Hillingwroth (Golf Athlete) – chosen for his dedication and commitment to all aspects of his academy program. Including attending golf training sessions, gym sessions, education sessions and being involved in SAS events.

2024/2025 Matthew Nights Overall Oustanding Achievement Award

Voted on between all Oustanding Athlete Winners

Winner – Isabell Alchin – Highlighted by two events at the Victorian all schools state championships, 4th place in the U17 100m and 2nd place in the U17 200m. Qualified and competed at the Australian All Schools Athletics Championships, representing Victoria. Finishing in 5th place in the U17 200m. SA State Individual Championships included 5 podium finishes. Winning the 100m, 200m,300m hurdles, Javelin and securing silver in the 90m hurdles.
