Overview
The 2026 SAS Swan Hill Winter Athletics Program provides a fantastic opportunity for Swan Hill athletes to continue their development throughout the winter months.
Designed with a holistic approach, this program supports athletes across strength, performance, education, and skill development to help them reach their full potential.
This program is proudly supported by Swan Hill Little Athletics, who are committed to the ongoing development of emerging athletes in the region.
Objectives
- Identification of regional athletes with long term characteristics for high performance Athletes
- To implement a program which takes a holistic approach to an athlete’s development
- Provide athletes the tools necessary for them to develop as high-level athletes i.e. Strength and Conditioning and Athlete Education sessions
- To provide high level track and field training
- To involve regionally based athletics coaches and support their professional development within the program for the development of current and future athletes
- To involve training from high level coaches to develop local athletes

Athletics Personnel
The 2026 Swan Hill Winter Athletics Program will offer two High Performance clinics led by experienced coach Maddy Koeleman-Wilson for quality training and athlete development.
Maddy Koeleman-Wilson
Maddy has been coaching for over 5 years and specialises in coaching youth athletes of all backgrounds. Her main focus is on sprints; 100m, 200m, 400m, and horizontal jumps. Maddy also has a passion for team sport athletes and is currently the head of high performance at Essendon Football Club for the Women’s VFL team. She uses her knowledge to develop an athlete’s speed through technical running training and change of direction/agility drills to improve their game.
Maddy holds a Master of Exercise Physiology degree and a level 2 ASCA qualification which she uses to compliment her coaching through strength & conditioning and injury rehabilitation sessions.

Athletes in the program will receive:
- 12 x Strength & Conditioning Sessions – Wednesdays 4:30pm Group 1 (Mondays Group 2)
Delivered at Specialized Performance & Recovery - Individual Strength & Conditioning Program
Designed and monitored by an experienced S&C coach - Athletics Training Clinics (2 Sessions)
Delivered by Athletics Essendon coach Maddy Koeleman-Wilson - Clinic 1:
May 30th – Hosted at Athletics Essendon - Clinic 2:
June 30th – Swan Hill Little Athletics Centre - Education Sessions – Covering key topics such as: Nutrition, Recovery, Injury Prevention
- Individualized Athlete Handbook.
Exclusions:
- Uniform and merchandise
- Travel/Accommodation
Strength and Conditioning – Specialized Performance & Recovery
Experienced coach Dani Fleming will conduct strength and conditioning sessions at Specialized Performance & Recovery. Athletes will train in small groups focused on enhancing their athletic performance.
Targeted Squad
Males and Females born between 2008 and 2016.
The criteria for selection are as follows:
- A member of Swan Hill Little Athletics.
- Have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and improve
- Aiming to advance further within Athletics
Selection Process
Athletes are required to complete the online Athlete Application Form by 18TH May 2026.
Outlining their highest event achievements and highest levels represented (Eg. Regional, State, National etc.

General Adherence Criteria
In order for athletes to maintain their position within the Sunraysia Academy of Sport Athletics Program they will be required to meet certain standards relating to:
- Attendance at Academy camps & Participation in Academy Services
- Performance in competitions.
- Behaviour and attitude reflecting a commitment to high performance.
- To wear the Academy Uniform at all Academy activities where possible
The uniform cost is not included in the athlete levy, however upon acceptance into the program, online order instructions will be sent through with details of compulsory and optional items to be ordered.
It is an expectation that athletes wear their uniforms for media shoots/interviews,
training sessions and competitions where appropriate.
Cost of Program
*The 2026 Swan Hill Athletics Program levy will be finalised after applications have closed.
Payment plans are available.The athlete levy does not include SAS uniform.
Once accepted into the program, SAS bank details will be sent through for transfer.
