2026 Golf Program
Our 2026 Golf Program has now commenced!

Overview & Objectives
The Sunraysia Academy of Sport Golf Program provides services to Sunraysia’s talented junior Golfers to assist their development and is proudly supported by the Victorian Golf Foundation, in partnership with Drummond Golf Sunraysia Golf Range.
The 2026 Golf Program will run from 26th April 2026 and run until October 17th, 2026, the program will be led by PGA Professional Tim Walker, who is excited to work consistently with emerging golfers to support their development across all areas of the game. The program will also include weekly Strength & Conditioning sessions at Mildura Strength and Performance Centre. There will also be an athlete education component and other membership benefits.
Targeted Squad/Selection Criteria
Males and Females 10 – 18 years old (at time of program commencement)
Must be a member of a Golf Club affiliated with Golf Australia.
Must hold and play to a Golf Australia Handicap
All applicants must have a willingness to learn, improve and work hard to achieve their goals
In the circumstances that an athlete doesn’t meet the above selection criteria, SAS can also select athletes at their own discretion, no discourse shall be entered into. We encourage everyone who is interested to apply!
Structure of Tier:
The Academy is aiming to provide a three-tier structure in the golf program to ensure its longevity and sustainability within the academy. The number of tiers is dependent on the numbers of athletes who are accepted into the program.
The Tiers that the athletes may be split up into are: Tier1, Tier 2 & Tier 3. Each Tier will be Professionally Coached by Tim Walker, to ensure that consistency, continuity, and quality is maintained.
Depending on the number of participants, athletes will be grouped according to their current handicap.
- Tier 1 – Handicap 6 or lower
- Tier 2 – Handicap under 15
- Tier 3 – Handicap under 30

Timeline
April 7 – Applications close
April 12 – Trial Day (if required)
April 26 – Program induction
May – October – Weekly golf sessions, Strength & conditioning sessions, Education sessions, Access to High Performance Day opportunities
October 16 – 17 – Weekend visit from Golf Australia High Performance Coach, Travis Harrison, to conclude the program
Full Program Inclusions:
- Induction with Guest Speaker/Education Presenter – 26th April 2025
- Individualized Athlete Handbook – Includes Meal Plans, Calendar and more
- 12 Golf Technical Training Sessions with PGA Professional Tim Walker
Sessions delivered at Drummond Golf Sunraysia Golf Range and Various Golf Clubs (Mondays Tier 1, Wednesdays Tier 2 & 3) - Tier 1 athletes will be required to record and keep track of their stats
- Strength and Conditioning sessions at Mildura Strength and Performance Centre with Harley Cole
- Individualized Strength and Conditioning program set up and monitored by S&C Coach, use of Teambuldr App
- Education sessions covering topics such as Nutrition, Mental Skills, Rehab, Injury Prevention and more.
- Sunraysia Academy of Sport ‘Athlete Membership’ to Mildura Waves courtesy of Aligned Leisure (conditions apply)
- Invitation to attend Golf Australia High Performance Day at Australian Golf Centre (Sandringham) – Friday 17th July
- Two Day Clinic with High Performance Coach Travis Harrison in Mildura – 17th– 18th October
- Discounted membership with Sportsmind Jr
Exclusions:
- Travel and accommodation to High Performance Days
- SAS uniform and merchandise
Applications
Athletes interested in applying for a position in the program must complete an online application form by April 7th, 2026. Athletes will then be asked to attend the trial day to check suitability and to be placed in the correct tiered group

SAS Uniform
Upon acceptance into the program an email will be sent through with details of what uniform is required as part of the golf program. Athletes will be required to order online with Apelle Apparel.
Cost of Program
The ‘Full Athlete Levy’ for the 2026 Golf Program will be finalized after applications have closed on April 7th 2026.
Payment plans are available
Once accepted into the program, you will be sent details regarding making payment and all costs involved.
Preferred payment method is direct debit, but payment can also be made by cash or cheque at the SAS Office. Please note: SAS do not have credit card facilities at the office.
